I'M DOING IT, I'M PROPERLY DOING IT!!

I'm so excited to tell you about this! But first HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all! Hope you had a Smashing Christmas!Ours was lovely, and I am loving the new year because I have Finally learnt to CROCHET!! I have wanted to do this for sooo long, years in fact, I have made many attempts before but couldn't even get to grips with how to hold the hook!

But this year I was determined, after seeing so much hooky loveliness here and here...

and most definitely here , I knew I just had to persevere until I had done it, and I have, AT LAST!!

I can't believe I made these tiny squares!

It's all because of this lovely lady and her amazing blog.
It was so easy to follow her step by step instructions, they were so clear, I could check if I was doing it right with the gorgeous clear photos too!

Thank you so much Vanessa!!

I'm now working on the scarf and really enjoying it!

I'm off to do some more, gotta go into the loft to raid my stash of oddment yarns!
Rachel xx

That is fantastic, welcome to the world of crochet, that is it now you are 'hooked' for life :)

Yeah - it's such a good feeling when it finally goes click. It took me over a year to even master a foundation chain.

Happy New Year and enjoy the hooking - it gets very addictive.

Congratulations ! You're in for a lot of fun and scarves and squares and lots of things !!
It does take a lot of determination : when my sister taught me how to crochet, it took a long time, I still can't hold the crochet "the right way" - I hold it like a pen, and it works for me - but one day she had told me that she never thought I would finally master it, so clumsy did I look at the beginning ! Well, I think I did pretty well nevertheless :-)
I wish you lots of fun - and other good things in many other fields - in 2011 !

Happy New Year Rachel and congratulations on the new-found crochet skills, your creations look very professional! I'm learning to knit at the moment and that is so exciting. Vanessa's tutorial looks really good so I may give crochet a go some time.

Yay, I also have learnt to crochet this year, it did my head in for so long, BUT I was determined to learn. Today I made a Pansy, it got pulled undone a few times, but I got there in the end.
Isn't it the best feeling, I have always knitted and loved that, but somehow crochet is different, I love it.

Well done on the crochet - I dared get the hook out again for the first time last night having tried unsucessfully to learn for 2 years! I've started doing squares, it's a struggle but I'm getting there! Here's to a crochet 2011!
