A funny old start to the year..

and not in a good way.
The washing machine wouldn't drain but Hubby fixed it, then the Internet went on the blink, then we lost the Internet totally.then finally the central heating boiler went up the spout! It was f- f- flippin freezing, so there have been a few headaches while we got it all sorted and now we are finally back on track.
I huddled under a blanket and continued with my crochet scarf, which is coming along nicely!

I am really enjoying hooking these little squares in my spare moments!Even while I'm loading these photos!
Some of these yarns I've had for 20 years! Some are vintage yarns from the boot too!

When I wrote my first post about crochet I would've liked it to be longer but because of the Internet problem I had to write it really quickly and didn't include everything I wanted too.

There are lots of beautiful blogs full of crochet inspiration so here are a few more that I would've liked to include

Bunny mummy, I met the lovely Jacquie on Flickr last year. She has a wonderful blog filled with crochet inspiration and free tutorials too! I hope to have a go at her bunting soon!

Tabiboo I love to read Nina's gorgeous blog!Wonderful photos filled with crochet inspiration.I love her granny scarf!

Of course there are lots of gorgeous blogs out there and I'm finding more each day.It was torture before, coming across these blogs when I just couldn't do it. Ooohing and ahhing over bright colourful crochet and now I feel such a part of it!

Thank you so much for all your encouraging and kind comments, I really do appreciate every single one of them! And to the ladies who have said they can't do it, just keep at it, it honestly will just click into place one day!

We had all the things breaking at the end of last year and so far (fingers crossed)the boiler hasn't broken down like it has the last three winters. Will need a new one soon!
I am determined to learn how to read crochet patterns this year by leaning how to decrease etc. I only ever do granny squares just now and barely know what any stitches are.
Just think of the possibilities....

Sorry you've had all those problems..it's so frustrating isn't it?
You're doing brilliantly with your scarf.I used to look at the amazing crochet work on other peoples blogs, and be so envious and thought..what is WRONG with me..why can't I do it? It's such a great feeling when you finally 'crack' it. :0)

Hi Rachel,

A Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope the bad start you made will turn into a good year. In Holland we have a saying that when something breaks down it always happen 'in three'! Love the colours you chose for your scarve!

Lieve groet, Madelief

Oh sorry to hear about your household promblems...why is that things always come in three's.?
I remember when the children were very small, I had the washing machine, the dishwasher and then the tumble dryer breakdown all within days of each other grr...

Your crocheting and scarf, look really good, wonderful isn't it crocheting?

I am not neat freak tidy person... honestly, impossible with 2 teenage boys...some parts of my house are defo no go areas.
What I love about my kitchen shelves are that they are soo functional, I don't have a dishwasher and the sink is just below, literally it's a stretch of an arm to put everything away neat and all that is on the shelf we USE all the time!
LOVE PEACE enJOY

Sorry about all of your break down problems, especially the heat, that had to be the worst. I do love the pretty scarf you are making. I always say I am going to learn to crochet, but it hasn't happened yet!

Take care, Rachel!
