Local views and the garden

Hello lovely ladies,
it's a beautiful sunny morning here in Oxfordshire. On Friday we took the Hubster's car in for MOT, not very exciting I know, but the location is lovely so I thought I'd share with you.
This is Crawley, the pretty village where we take our cars to be sorted by a very nice mechanic.
Beautiful English cottages too, I love this one, there's a little brook that runs in front of it.
We crossed the little bridge, our destination was the village pub for a quick ice cold shandy while we waited for the car http://www.thelambcrawley.com/find.html.
At this point my battery was flat on the camara, so I will have to show you more pretty cottages another time!
Anyhoo, I have been very busy in the garden, enjoying the glorious sunshine.
I have been repotting geranium seedlings, not sure what colour they will be, as they were kindly given to me by a friend.
I've been potting up geraniums I bought at the local farmers market.

I also bought 2 pretty ceramic planters at the local car boot for a £1 each, I love the color.
Now I know lots of you are keen gardeners and this is where I need you help on plant ID, does anyone know the name of this plant please?

I've had it in the garden for about 5 years and this is the best it's ever flowered, this is a photo of just a section of it, its bigger and bushier than this, heres a close up of the pretty bell shaped flowers

Also I have this growing in 2 of my pots and I can't remember it it's something I planted, or a weed!
Any ideas? Your advice would be very welcome.I often forget to label stuff and regret it the next year tee hee!

I'd better go and water them before it gets too hot!

Thank you and Welcome to my new followers and commentors, really appreciate the fact you popped by, I will be heading your way if I haven't popped by already!

Have a lovely day wherever you are!

Hi Rachel , love your photos. The countryside is soooo pretty at the moment isn't it . Wish it could be like this all year, but I guess we would not notice it after a while !
Love your garden too .Your shrub is Weigela....not sure about the other plant but I would leave it and see as it doesn't look like a weed , maybe it has self seeded from a neighbor's garden.

Hello Rachel,Thanks for popping by.You are right about parking in Brighton,it's a nightmare! We always go there on the bus. It's a lovely journey through the Sussex countryside. You have been working hard in your garden.I love the red geranium against the blue painted wood.Your mystery plant looks a bit like a penstamen, but I'm not absolutely sure.
Hope this lovely weather lasts for the jubilee weekend.Have fun! :0)

Lovely views and pics of your garden too. I love the geranium against the blue woodwork. Your shrub is a type of Weigela and I think the plant in the pot could be Feverfew, but I'm not certain. Enjoy the sun!XX

Hello - how much nicer than our garage! However, we have fun at ours too - you never know what Madame (the young woman who runs it with her husband) is going to do next... once I got a lesson in Occitain from her, and this time it was a rant about computers and photocopiers, which is always most entertaining in her French style. And the good news - our 'new to us' car passed its controle technique (MOT). Hope yours did too!

I have no idea what your plants are. I am a hopeless gardener. I showed my Mum a few plants that were thriving in my garden. I asked her what they were and she said she didn't know their actual names but loosely termed they are weeds! Ha ha! I dod like they though, they are pretty weeds so I'll keep them in there.

About the crochet edging you commented on over at ine (I couldn't email you directly as you're a no reply blogger) I prefer blanket stiched edging. It looks neater on both side when crocheted off. But If you don't have a sharp hook then just pierce a few holes in the fabric with a thick tapestry needle. It works just as well and I don't find it that much slower since you don't have to worry about snagging the fabric threads. I love how the finished crochet on fabric looks.

Just found you and you made me smile with your tales from the garden! You sound just like me - I LOVE being in the garden, but unless I'm walking around with an encyclopedia of plant and flower names, I often can't tell a handsome weed from a useful plant - lol!
I love Crawley, I used to drive out for a pub lunch when we lived in South London a few years back.
great blog - delighted to have found you!
