Crochet Gone Wrong

Well the day started well, I was having a little sort out of my t-shirt drawer and remembered I had T shirt yarn pinned on one of my Pinterest boards so I thought I'd give it a go with some of my old tops.
The yarn was pretty easy to make, I was quite inpressed with my little stash.
So I found a pattern for a rug, just a rectangular one, and got busy, with my size 15 crochet needle!
I'd altered the size of the rug as the one in the pattern was quite big. It was just DC in rows, but my ends were going out of shape, somehow I was decreasing!I was using up the yarn pretty quickly too!
Hey ho I thought, I'll just carry on and make a tote bag instead, well it's not exactly a tote bag, waaay too small for that, more of a peg bag or carrier bag holder!!
See how tiny it is!I don't know why I have such difficulty with crochet in rows, I think I'll stick with granny squares!
Thanks for the heads up from Mrs Cuckoo on the pretty Primark tea towels, I nearly missed out on those!
I had a gorgeous weekend in Brighton too with the Hubster, even managed to drag him to the car boot at the marina too, will show you my finds next time!
Hope you all have a great week, and thank you kindly for your recent comments, if I haven't managed to pop to your blog yet, I'll be around soon!

Whatever the size it's very cute. I'd definitely be pleased to have it holding all my pegs!

Hope you have a lovely week whilst the sun is shining!

Still very clever though!

Cant wait to see your Brighton purchases. We are thinking of going there on a day trip in the Easter half term. Is the boot sale in the Marina a regular thing? and what day is it?
Thanks!

Your bag is great! I only seem to be able to do grannies.I'm trying a flower but without much success.
We were in Brighton today...it was heaving!
Enjoy the rest of the week and the lovely sunshine! :0)

You are probably having trouble with yours because you are not doing the first stitch in the right place, which means yes you are decreasing even though you don't want to. Also are you remembering to do a turning chain? People often go off and do things like granny squares without learning the basics first. Any book will have the information you need or it is on many websites if you take a look. Help is also available on YouTube in abundance.

Have a look here - I choose this website as the instructions were clear. It uses American terms so it calls double crochet, single crochet (and don't forget what we call double crochet they call treble crochet). Anyway I hope this helps.

I struggle with crocheting in lines too - I think I need to ask one of my clever S&B to show me what to do.

Love the idea of making some t-shirt yarn - will have to remember to save the teenagers old t-shirts.

Wow, I love your bag Rachel, it looks great.......

Always good to try something new, I'm sure it will get a lot of used.

Just wondering did you find it hard to use the t shirt yarn and large hook . I would love to give it a go but don't want to aggravate my wrists and have them 'complaining'...
