Luckily the lady who owned it only lived a few roads away and we promptly went to collect it!
However,It was not a little dressing table, it was HUGE with 4 drawers either side!
Never mind I thought, I will still find a place for it.Hubby and I wrestled it down the lady's stairs without damaging her wallpaper and carpet (it weighed a ton and I could see the Hubster was doubtful! We thanked the lady and wrestled it into the back of my car (which is a tiny KA) it was half in half ou!. I drove home VERY carefully! It lived in our dining room for a good few months.
BEFORE
I decided to paint it as the top was quite scratched!
That is also Wilson's bum in the picture!
Anyhoo, it now lives in the lounge, topped with goodies I have found from local car boots, mostly costing about a £1 each, except for the lamp which we already had!
AFTER
Even the Hubster has grown to like it!AFTER
I have lots of other makeovers I need to get on with but it's so breezy outdoors today, not ideal painting weather!

It turned out beautiful....It's so funny sometimes Phil will give me that look like your really going to buy that, I love those looks! the way you decorated it though is the icing on the cake!
That's a great makeover! Well done :0)
I love it, it's amazing what a few coats of paint can do, I have a welsh dresser that I've been meaning to make over for about two years, just a little nervous of tackling such a big project for my first paint makeover.

I like the way you say that it was "a little makeover". Looks like a big makeover to me! Looks much better white. Love it!
Lovely furniture painting there - such a great makeover! I like all the things you found to put on the top too! Have a great week.

What a lovely piece of furniture, and it looks all the better in white. You are lucky, Freecycle isn't very well known (yet?) in my neck of the woods.
Why am I never that lucky with Freecycle?!! Great paint job x

I love painted furniture Rachel...you have done a wonderful job here....yes..it really is far too windy at the moment....spent some time in the garden yesterday planting and had to keep catching my little bedding plants...it was all a bit of a struggle!...
Wishing you a lovely week,

wonderful!!!!
Oh wow! It looks adorable and extra special with all your sentimental things on, I love it and well done! Have been wanting to try out that paint so may give it a whirl. Thanks for the lovely comment on the bag, was quite a bargain I thought :) xx
looks great, I have a desk I need to paint too!
I think most pieces look better with a coat of paint, but even if I were a "plain wood"-lover, this is a great re-do. :) Lovely find!
Very nice... please tell Wilson his bum doesn't look big in that!
What's Freecycle?
What a difference - I have just done the same to an old dresser that was left by the last resident!!!
Thank you for your kind comment over at Appletree Cottage
