Kitchen Additions

First of all thank you for all your sweet comments on my last post, they are much appreciated!
Now as you know my kitchen is a work in progress, in 2011 I painted the pine cupboards, we still need to replace the laminate worktops (with lovely wooden ones hopefully)
Well in the meantime I've been doing a bit of ' prettifying'!

I bought an old shelf for £2 at Oxford market, it was pine with a green cast iron stand, but now I've revamped it.I thought it would create a bit of extra space for some of my pretties!
Pretend you can't see the ugly wire at the back!

I'm so pleased with my new radio a bargain from Sainsburys at £9.99!
Lovin the Ella Valentine egg box packaging too, so pretty. The Hubster also put up these lovely metal hooks for me too, muche needed extra space for the growing mug collection!

Hope you are all having a great week, I'm still a bit achey from 2 days solid gardening at the weekend in the goregeous sunshine!
Love it!!

On my list today...

  1. Do the washing

  2. Empty the dishwasher

  3. Take Wilson for a walk

  4. Make son's lunch for 6th form trip

  5. Go to charity warehouse to source more fabric

  6. Go shopping

  7. Pack shopping away(I hate that bit)

  8. Finish making cover for hall table

I'm pleased to say I've managed to do the all by lunch time except No.8, that is still a WIP, do you want to see?

The dress I was going to use was stitched in panels so I had to rethink. Idecided to make a patchwork cover and mixed it in with other fabrics. The beige rose fabric is the dress. I also used an offcut of my daughters curtains, a pillowcase and leftover cushion faric I've had for a few years! And do you know what, I'm really pleased with it so far! I need to add 1 more panel, back it and then add the pompom trim!

I'm off to make myself some lunch while Wilson has his little nap(tired from his walk)

Autumn Knitting

Now ladies, you must remember I am a bit limited with my yarn choices at the mo, due to' the challenge'. That said, I've had a few lovely finds from the boot.I found this a few weeks ago

I've got about 10 balls for £2.50, bargain!!I decided to knit a bag, really hard to get a good photo of it though! I finished it with a knitted flower and then I stitched a metal rose into the centre. This was from a bracelet that I took apart (bought from the boot of course!)

I knitted in moss stitch and the yarn was knitted in double so it has a lovely texture.

I also got this quite a while ago

It's a bit like candyfloss, don't ya think?'Not sure what to knit with it yet, I'll have to ponder on this a bit longer!I do have quite a bit of yarn in the loft too, it all needs a good sort out, I shall save that job for a rainy day I think!

More treasures

Found these gorgeous floral cushions at the boot sale ! Just for a change I am going to keep them for myself! Even though the Hubster has been heard to say ' not more flippin cushins'

Not sure which room they will live in , at the mo they are on the sofa. they would also look lovely in the bedroom or summerhouse!

Also found these baby dresses for just 50p each!

Baby dresses are ideal for little sewing projects as they come in such pretty fabric. Once you have snipped off the skirt and pressed it theres usually a decent amount of fabric!

I'm off to make pancakes for my son, it's such a beautiful day today!

Hope you have a good one!

New Makes!

Just a few things I have made recently but haven't taken pictures of until today

The heart above is made from a Woolworths teatowel, a brand new one, although it has been in my stash for a while, funny, I have lots of fabric like that!

The red heart is made from a wraparound skirt of my friend's . She never wore it, it reminded her of a tablecloth! I also made a bag from this fabric!
Back to my furniture painting now!

Busy weekend

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a lovely weekend! I've been very busy.I had a stall at the flea market and collectors fair at Burford on Saturday, which was great.I always have a great time, as the people who run it are so lovely! It's a very friendly atmosphere and if you like flea markets they have some brilliant bargains! Then the evening was spent with the family, watching Max and Paddy on DVD, they really make me laugh, I love Peter Kay!I also had to prepare for a stall, at the local pre-school summer fayre.I woke really early today, it's that car boot addiction I'm developing!I ,it's probably going to rain by the time I've got myself ready but that's fine,I can cope with it.But hey it didn't rain until I walked through the gates of the car boot! There were only about 8 cars there but there were still bargains to be had!.I bought a piano stool for £3(it's going to be a project to revamp it, it's got potential!)I bought some tiny drinks glasses and a Hello Kitty purse in red,it's really sweet.I also bought a desk lamp to light up my stall for just 50p.I was so pleased!.The afternoon was spent doing the summer fayre, which I was sure was going to be cancelled.Good news,I did really well, sold lots and took quite a few orders. The bad news ,I got soaked in a torrential downpour halfway through the afternoon!Luckily most of my goodies were wrapped in cellophane! When I returned home my lovely hubby had made a very tasty roast lamb dinner! It was delicious!I took photos of my booty bargains, unfortunately the camera battery is now flat, and so is the spare, flippin great.I'll have to post them tomorrow, as it's really late now and I'm yawning ..a lot.Got to get some sleep before another lovely day at the flea market.Do pop in if you're in the area! Here are a few photo's of my kitchen as we bloggers do like a bit of visual stimulation( ooh er missus!)
